QUESTIONS

We are often asked if THE GREY products are organic or natural?

THE GREY MEN'S SKINCARE products combine the power of naturally occurring and advanced science ingredients that are simple to use, highly effective, non-toxic, non-irritating, and absolutely cruelty-free. THE GREY does not use aggressive, irritating ingredients. Beyond this, THE GREY does not like labels such as ‘organic,’ ‘natural’ or ‘clean,’ which have no consistent definition and tell you nothing about a product’s safety or efficacy. We are committed to bringing you the very best ingredient science and being certified “organic” does not always yield the best ingredient.

It is important to note, that all of our products contain;

  • No mineral oils,
  • No parabens,
  • No petrochemicals (paraffin Oil, petrolatum),
  • No sulfates,
  • No SLS, SLES, DEA,
  • No synthetic perfume
  • No Alcohol

Additional our Comfort+ face cream contains;

  • No Artificial colourant
  • Fragrance free
  • Hypoallergenic

While many of our formulas contain ingredients sourced from plants grown organically, they also commonly contain ingredients grown by farmers using non-organic techniques as well as substances developed by our chemists in our laboratory.

Our primary objective is to ensure THE GREY products are made from premium quality ingredients, using the remarkable results that science reaps. We bring together the finest elements of human ingenuity, scientific discovery and botanical ingredients to create our products.

Does THE GREY test on animals?

None of our finished products have been tested on animals. All new ingredients are reviewed by our research and development team prior to use. We research the registration status of these ingredients in world markets, and note any past testing. It is an unfortunate fact that some of the ingredients used in our products were historically tested on animals since this was standard practice with some ingredient testing until approximately twenty years ago

All new products are tested during our product development process for safety using cumulative irritancy testing on human volunteers. Before our products are released to the public, formulations are also assessed for safety by a qualified external agency – either a chemist or toxicologist. These agencies also do not test on animals.

Is Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate the same as sodium lauryl sulfate?

We got this question asked a few time so here is the answer; They may have the same initials (SLS), but sodium lauroyl sarcosinate and sodium lauryl sulfate are NOT the same thing. Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate is only similar to sodium lauryl sulfate in that they're both surfactants, but that's about where it ends. Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate is derived from sarcosine, a natural amino acid found in the human body and just about every type of biological material from animals to plants. Our sarcosine is made from coconut oil.

Can I recycle my packaging ?

Yes. And the packaging for our Self tanning serum and Deodorant  are made of glass – which is particularly recyclable and can be used for a long time.

The Tubes of our Daily Face Protect and Overnight Sleeping mask are made out of green PE and are APR compliant

We as a company have a strong environmental ethos that we are acting on, including an already executed dramatic reduction in packaging materials, a shift from plastic to glass as a raw material and to other sustainable ingredients. This shift has begun and will continue. We are exploring eliminating the outer wrapping packaging and soft touch varnish from our products and we are changing from plastic jars to glass jars, and making our packaging (and therefore product size on the shelf) smaller.

All of our paper used for packaging is FSC certified, which means it comes from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.

What is the Shelf life of my product

All products need to be used by a certain period. This is known as the 'period after opening' and can be easily identified by the PAO symbol. The symbol can be recognised as the shape of an opened jar, and will have a number inside; 9M will indicate 9 months, 12M is 12 months, and 36M is 36 months. Once opened the product should be used in this period, as after this time the quality of the product will deteriorate

Are THE GREY products vegan

We do not describe our brand as “vegan,” although The Grey products are almost entirely vegan in fact. However, some of our products do contain cruelty-free Lanoline and collagen.

If one of our The Grey products is 100% Vegan you can see that by the "Vegan Friendly" comment on each product page.
