As we reach our mid-40s, many of us may begin to experience difficulties in seeing clearly at close distances, especially when reading or working on a computer. This is one of the most common issues that adults develop between the ages of 41 and 60. While decreased vision may appear inevitable with age, the right nutritional supplement and diet can help.

01

How it's different

With age, the eyes become more susceptible to damage caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and an overactive immune system, which leads to a flood of the body with protective cells and hormones that damage parts of the eyes.

02

What does it do

This dietary supplement supports healthy eyesight, heart, brain, kidneys, and liver. It helps reduce inflammation, provides antioxidant benefits, and aids in vision improvement, retinal protection, night vision, and dry eye relief. It also boosts immune protection, reduces oxidative damage, and shields eyes from UV damage.

01

Vitamin A

Contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and in the process of cell specialization.

02

Zinc

Zinc is a mineral that helps maintain the health of the retina, cell membranes, and protein structure of the eye. Zinc allows vitamin A to travel from the liver to the retina to produce melanin. Melanin is a pigment that protects the eyes from UV light.

03

Lutein

As antioxidants, lutein and zeaxanthin may help reduce oxidative damage in the retina. Reaserach suggests that taking approximately 6 milligrams (mg) per day of lutein and zeaxanthin may lower a person’s risk of developing AMD. An intake of 0.5–1 mg per day may also lower the risk of glaucoma.

04

Bilberry Fruit

Bilberry is known to contain anthocyanosides, which not only have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties but are also good for microcirculation, improving night vision, and enable the eyes to adapt to lighting changes. Bilberry, known to contain 10X antioxidants of vitamin C and 50X of vitamin E, is also beneficial for eye disorders like macular degeneration, reducing inflammation of the retina and retinopathy. Bilberry has been suggested as a treatment for retinopathy (damage to the retina) because anthocyanosides appear to help protect the retina. Bilberry has also exhibited protective effects against macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. However, studies are lacking.

05

Grape Seed

Grape seed extract contains numerous phytochemicals like flavonoids, linoleic acid, vitamin E, and oligomeric proanthocyanidins which are considered beneficial to those suffering from eye strain, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Out of this, oligomeric proanthocyanidins are especially known to enhance overall eye health due to their antihistamine and antioxidant properties.

06

Quercetin

By keeping the retina protected and healthy, this antioxidant helps to promote clear and sharp vision. In animals, quercetin seems to promote clarity of the lens, which is great news for those suffering from cataracts.

07

Taurine

Taurine can effectively improve stress damage, especially oxidative stress damage, arising in the retina. In addition, taurine can also play a role in protecting retinal function from stress damage through anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects, thus relieving visual fatigue.

08

Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle has amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties usually used to detoxify the liver. Fat-soluble vitamins and glutathione present in the liver and are responsible for repairing any eye damage thus the health of the liver plays an important part in the health of your eyes as well. Silymarin, the primary component of Milk Thistle, are known for its liver-supporting properties as well as reducing the sugar levels in the eyes of diabetics.

09

Turmeric Root

Turmeric is known for its medicinal and anti-inflammatory benefits as well as its positive effects on the eyes. Curcumin, an active compound in turmeric, is known to be effective against inflammation of dry eyes. This well-known spice is also said to reduce the oxidation of the eye lens, which is considered to be a major cause of some eye disorders.

10

L-Glutathione

Glutathione can help protect the eyes from damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) light. Glutathione helps to filter out harmful UV rays and prevents them from damaging the eyes. Glutathione also helps to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, which are both associated with age-related macular degeneration.
